Tracking links and attribution in plain words: how a commission is really counted
5 min read · 10 October 2026
In short
A tracking link marks a click as yours. Attribution decides who a sale belongs to when the buyer clicked more than one link — with us, the last click inside the cookie window. Dedup removes duplicates, and a refund inside the guarantee window reverses the commission. Know these four and every line in the portal can be explained.
What does a tracking link do?
A tracking link is an ordinary address with your identifier on the end. When someone clicks it, the browser gets a cookie, and a sale inside the cookie window is recorded to you. A SubID lets you tell channels apart: the same link in a newsletter and in a video shows up as two lines.
Who does a sale belong to if the buyer clicked two links?
That is what attribution settles. Our model is last click: the sale belongs to whoever's link was clicked last inside the cookie window. It is simple and predictable — you always know why a sale went to whom.
| Day | What happened | The sale belongs to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The buyer clicks your link in a video | you |
| 4 | The buyer clicks another partner's link | the other partner |
| 6 | The buyer buys | the other partner |
An example. Had the buyer clicked your link again on day 5, the sale would be yours.
Why is the same sale never paid twice?
Every sale gets an identifier, and the same identifier is recorded only once, even when the data arrives from two sources — our own tracking, a store platform or a payment processor. This is called dedup, and it is why the numbers match in every view.
What does a refund do to the line?
A line moves through three states: pending, approved, paid. A sale refunded inside the guarantee window moves to cancelled, and the commission is removed before payment. After the guarantee window an approved line is paid in the next payout.
What do you do if a number looks wrong?
Check the line's state and date first. Most often the sale is still in its guarantee window, or it landed on another partner's last click. If you have clear evidence the sale came through you outside the cookie window, get in touch — the event log is reviewed and the line corrected if the data supports you.

Questions
What is a SubID?
A free extra identifier on the end of a tracking link. It shows which channel — a newsletter, a video or a community — brought the click and the sale.
Does a sale count if the buyer switches device?
A cookie belongs to one browser, so switching device can break tracking. That is why sales are also recorded server to server when the program supports it.
Why is a line pending?
The sale is recorded, but the guarantee window is still running. When it ends without a refund, the line moves to approved and is paid in the next batch.
